It has a relatively widespread natural distribution in south-eastern Australia. It is native to most of eastern New South Wales, the ACT and most of Victoria (in mainland Australia it is most common near the Great Dividing Range from the Ben Lomond Range in northern New South Wales to the Grampians in western Victoria). It is also widespread and common throughout Tasmania. There are approximately 1,300 Acacia species worldwide with 1,000 native to Australia.

The Mimosa flowers are harvested in March and April when they are in full bloom. The absolute is a thick, yellow sticky consistency. With a beautiful floral, fruity note.
